Nancy Hammond's first signed and numbered annual poster was published in 1997 at her Annapolis gallery. This poster release soon became a phenomenon with people lined up around the block. There, on the  sidewalks,were frisbee, checker and card games as well as sterno stoves and picnics into the wee hours.  Last year, as in years past, many patrons camped out overnight outside of the gallery for a chance to buy one of the first 100 posters, which sell for $45. each.  The price quickly rises after the first 100 are sold.  The last poster in the edition sells for $3,000.
